Felicitations, fellas and fellinas, you made it! I hope to find everyone absurdly well or vastly better!
A quickie today so I’ll leave “most” of the dime-store philosophizing for another time. Recently I’ve been reflecting on anger, both mine and others and the impact it has upon the world and on ourselves. Certainly, some high-profile rage-induced events and their aftermath or lack thereof may have helped spur, but this horse was cantering along some time ago.
As always, thank you so much for stopping by and may many thousands of blessings find their way home to you and all you cherish.
“Kant(es) Inferno”, March 29, 2022.
Anger beats like forge’s hammer
Molten to reshape hard steel
But it’s preeminent scammer
Obfuscating until real
Rage is like an iceberg flaming
Hiding much below the lines
Of the water and self-blaming
Sinking ships, befouling shrines
So be wary of what’s lurking
Beneath surface of our soul
Lest be fate’s forever working
Refilling bottomless hole.
With all apologies and indirect gratitude to Immanuel.
I learned recently that anger is, in fact, a surface emotion. So, my advice to you would be when we find ourselves trapped in the grasp of rage, try to isolate what you’re actually feeling. Fear, sadness, loneliness… all these emotions masquerade as anger. We feel powerful angry, we don’t feel powerful when sad or scared. That’s my extremely humble opinion anyway and having lived it (many) more times than once I’m underqualified but not unqualified to speak to the notion.
Thank you very much again for reading. And apologies for the lack of humour today, I’m just saving all the laughs for next time. I’ll tell you what, I’ll leave you with a delightfully pithy aphorism for the “road”.
“Blessed are the cheek, for they shall inherit the mirth”.
Is it a quote if you wrote it? Apparently so.
Now do the “Sophocles Shuffle”, my friends and let self-discovery reign! Or at least form some varietal of constitutional monarchy or whatever. 🙂
Happy Trails and Waggy Tales to all!
