Something Wicked, All-Ways

Greetings friends, wishing you all extremely well! I’m a law clerk today because this will be brief. No? What if I worked for Fruit of the Loom? Still a resounding no. Luckily I cannot think of any further jermaine position titles.

Fun one today! Extremely uplifting and glorying in the greatness of humanity. And it is precisely that, just the absolute inverse.

“Something Wicked, All-Ways”, May 6, 2023.

Adrift in an impenetrable wilderness

Misplaced and misunderstood

Menacing sentinels twisting scornfully

Constrictive, damp and choking miasma

Fetid and coarse, death’s jesters

Rattling breath, sundering nerve

Diaphanous courage shreds

Before a wretched circus hall of mirrors

Caved-in and perilously worn out

Haunting agonies with no reprieve

Strangling roots procuring dark harvest

An ill, writhing, temporal bounty

Sadistically macabre, envenomed

Berths yet still lie, best ever left be.

I was extremely reticent to use “berth” and “still” together because I didn’t want it completely misinterpreted. However, after numerous permutations, it never sounded better than this original. So hopefully “berth” is still a term people are familiar with. Any sea captains in the audience?

And with that, we come to a close. I CAN be brief, despite my personality more closely resembling a “tighty whitey” mentality. In a few different ways now that I think about it. This is mildly distressing…

Happy Trails and Waggy Tales!

    1. Hello David! Thank you very much, as always, you are too kind. As for your question that’s a very good one and I wish there was a more definitive answer forthcoming. I don’t know. I imagine I could submit poems to various publications and some would potentially (hopefully) be accepted. But the profits are seemingly minimal and I just finished school for something completely different. So likely this will remain soley a hobby. Until AI overtakes every industry rendering accountants redundant. Under those conditions the meagre remuneration from poetry may sudddenly seem glorious. Thank you Skynet for a happy childhood! Maybe I will actually try submitting some pieces, not like I have anything to lose. Thank you for provoking the consideration. Much obliged, David! Hope you enjoy today’s post as well:)

  4. You’ve been busy recently!

I quite enjoy the pre/post scripts too 🙂

A friend with weed IS better, loved that lyric. You would’ve been ~10 when that came out. A part of my late youth.

Di’s visiting mexican cenotes today, wish I was there!

Hope you are doing well, despite Cat’s recent cone of stupidity.

Drop me a line if you ever want to talk. (mainly) shut ins like us need to stick together 😉

    CYA on the 21st?

    1. Ian! So great to hear from you. Thank you very much, you are extremely kind. I’m definitely trying to get back into the regular publishing routine and it’s working thus far. (Have a great one saved for next post.) People seem to be liking it and regardless writing is great for me personally. I’m glad a few people know Placebo, such an influential song for me growing up. It was on one of the Big Shiny Tunes albums (we old haha) so heard it 1000 times. Anyway, I’ve seen some of the photos from Di’s trip, seems like she’s having a glorious time:) Catherine is def on the mend and I’m doing well also. Much love to you both and I absolutely will be there on the 21st. Wishing you a glorious day/ weekend!
