Good afternoon all,
I am exceedingly excited to begin showcasing some of the work I’ve been at for many years. While I accepted long ago that writing poetry is unlikely to shower one with riches it is certainly a favorable pass time. This particular entry I rediscovered very recently on an old laptop. Odd how one of my favorite pieces can vanish completely from my memory over time. I believe this one is circa 2013.
Listlessly twisting upon the air
Tumbling, bumbling, debonaire
What once was new no longer there
No one said that life was fair
The crippling wind from branch doth tear
The myriad red and orange fare
Displayed in cryptic image rare
The angels of autumn, they never care.
I have a fractured memory of watching through an open window on a crisp fall day. Finding joy in the wonky paths of leaves in flight. Not to get too “American Beauty’ but there truly are sights to see at every moment. You need only to open your eyes. And perhaps your heart.
