Writing Anxiety

The title works with both versions of righting which frankly just makes me happy.

People who produce things, do you ever get nervous that whatever your newest creation is in fact blows? I certainly do. And for good reason in my opinion. Not every joke I tell is funny, why would every whatever I write also be good? That said, eventually you  have to force yourself into your grown up pants. Extract your creation from personal domains and introduce it into the World. Perhaps it it well received, or maybe it triggers full scale riots in several medium size Midwestern townships. That’s life.

I haven’t come up with a good enough title yet. I wrote it yesterday, April 12, 2018.

You don’t really get to know

If it’s good enough to show

Exists in a dual state

Total suck or super great

Finally we chose to leap

Dive straight down into the deep

Courage found now to release

Seeming mediocre piece

Another time and then once more

As you learn your impact for

Someone’s life can truly change

With what’s emerged from our brains.

The general thinking here is once I learned the legitimate impact my writing was/ is having on some of those reading I have no interest in stopping anytime soon. If I’m inspiring multiple people that is a far far better feeling than the vague trepidation over whether or not my rhymes line up perfectly. They are immaculate of course.

Have an epic Friday night everyone. Please use caution should you be in any of the ice storm locales. Alternatively, if you live somewhere warm right now, feel free to laugh at us silly Canadians with our Spring Winter.

I can relate dearly to the last bit of this, about the feeling of potentially helping others and such. Keep it up, you never know whos life you might save right?

  3. “well received” or “full scale riots”; what’s the difference? I’ll take either. The real killer is indifference and the sound of crickets chirping.

  4. Couldn’t relate to this more! Case in point: it took me 10 months of writing on here before I could bring myself to make my blog public and share it with the world. So glad I did though and whatever people may take from it, whether silly things or profound, I think it still makes it worthwhile.
