With Apologies to Doc Brown.

Like politicians I enjoy a day with a little bluster. Granted a very different varietal of wind tends to originate from both sources. Not to mention less is often more in both scenarios. That phrase perplexed me endlessly as a child the first time I heard it, how can less be more? Fun fact, I learned it during the film “Angels in the Outfield”. Classic. I never did stop “looking to the skies”, though not so much for athletically gifted cherubs as inspiration in general.

A bit of an unusual creation today. Less conventional format and rhyme scheme. That said, one of the joys of being ‘the writer” is that I can do whatever the hell I want. Na-na (voice of Simpson’s Comic Book Guy please).

Ladders and Snakes, Feb. 5, 2018.

Maladroit from vicious cuss

Inundates your conscious thus

Mental chains we are all trussed

Forgiveness of self a must

Carry on beyond your will

To empty aquifers fill

Otherwise you rot until

Inside you finally kill

Drought-like thoughts can only lie

Life like deserts rendered dry

Buried spirits still must try

Everyday until they die.

I’m going to let you chew on that and determine your own meanings. It was composed at the same time but in obscure, overlapping stages. No, I don’t really know what that means either.:)

  1. Your rhyming poetry gets me so jazzed up to want to use rhymes in my own! Thanks for keeping the spirit alive.

  2. “One of the joys of being ‘the writer” is that I can do whatever the hell I want.” Isn’t that the truth??? I REALLY liked this, and greatly enjoyed reading it imagining the comic guy’s voice…nice touch 😊 And great poem, by the way…
