I struggled over whether or not to publish today given the extreme importance of yesterday’s piece. I obviously decided to carry on anyway, this is rather what I do. For a sunny Monday let’s slip into something a touch more comfortable.
I wrote the first two lines of today’s poem while waiting at the barbers earlier in the week. When finishing it this morning it took on a distinctly more comical tilt but I think that’s for the best. It would have seemed rather dark, not to mention the bad kind of “anti-social”.
When confronted with any real world style situation I tend to resort to humor wherever possible. It’s a good default strategy for the most part though funerals and other similarly serious events can become somewhat awkward. No hole’s ever too deep for another joke not to be able to get you out of it! 🙂
Kick the Can, March 26, 2018 (sort of). Enjoy!
People are weird and I’m not much a fan
Frankly avoid them whenever I can
Each passing year confirms that my old friend
Oscar the Grouch was quite right in the end
Ok that’s not necessarily true
Too much isolation will leave you blue
Perhaps that’s why my smelly green pal
Kept his home in such a central locale.
Doesn’t it seem odd that someone so grouchy would live right on the main strip? I mean it’s probably easier to panhandle there but still. SS property values are way overinflated. No wonder the guy can only afford a garbage can. It’s not even rent controlled.
I am so grateful for your dropping by! May you all be swarmed by hordes of happy puppies!
